The day of the written test
Getting to the written test
The University of Vienna holds the written admission and aptitude tests at the VIECON – Vienna Congress & Convention Center. Please visit the Wiener Linien website for information on how to get there and tickets for public transport.
You can find the admission time and the expected end of the test on your permission to attend (“Einlassbestätigung”). However, we recommend that you keep the entire day free. Please be punctual and, if necessary, arrive the day before. If you arrive too late, you will be excluded from the entrance exam/aptitude test! There are no alternative dates.

Guidelines on items
You are allowed to bring a bag to the written test. This bag must not be larger than hand luggage. During the test, all prohibited items must remain in your bag without exception. Only explicitly permitted items are allowed to be on your desk.
If you use a prohibited item during the test, this will count as an attempt to cheat. In this case you will be excluded from the test.

Step 1: Entry at the VIECON
Please note: Only those with a permission to attend (printed in A4 format!) are allowed to enter the VIECON. In this permission and in the access plan you will find information about your access to the test hall. The entry is organised in stages via several entrances.
Only use the entrance intended for you! We will check your identity. Therefore, please have your passport or personal ID card and your printed permission to attend on hand.
Step 2: Entry and your seat
Entry to the test room
The personalized QR code on your permission to attend will be scanned at the entrance to the test hall. You are not allowed to leave the test hall after that. Toilets are located in the test hall. Please note: Smoking is not permitted.
Personalized seat
Your seat is personalized and can only be accessed via the entrance assigned to you. Please proceed directly to your allocated sector. Supervisory staff will help you find your sector and seat. You may leave your own seat to go to the toilet, but you may not go to any other seats.
Step 3: The written test
Before the test, you will receive detailed instructions on how to proceed (for example, how to mark your answers or how to correct incorrectly marked answers). The exact end time of the test will also be announced.
Take a look at the sample exercises and possible questions for the tests on our test details website.
Step 4: After the written test
For organizational reasons, you may not leave the test hall early. Please take this into account when planning your schedule and travel arrangements. Upon request, you can obtain time confirmations (for military service, civil service, etc.) electronically after the written test via our Servicedesk.
We will inform you of your test result and your next steps in the admission procedure via e-mail.
