New Teacher Education Programme starting in the academic year 2026/27
The new Teacher Education programme will start in the academic year 2026/27 with a three-year bachelor's and a two-year master's degree programme. All details will be available online from February.
Visit us at the BeSt in Vienna in March or at uniorientiert, the University of Vienna's open days, in April and find out more in person.
How does studying Teacher Education work?
In the bachelor's programme in Teacher Education, you combine two teaching subjects with the Introduction to Principles of Educational Sciences ("Allgemeine Bildungswissenschaftliche Grundlagen – ABG"). Instead of a teaching subject, you can also choose the specialisation in Inclusive Education. Choose your subjects freely according to your interests!
Would you like to study three teaching subjects? This is possible as part of the complimentary degree programme third teaching subject (only available in German).
Are you interested in studying one subject at a university of arts and another at the University of Vienna? Participate in the university of art's aptitude test. If you are successful, you will be exempt from the aptitude test procedure at the University of Vienna.
Think about which teaching subjects you would like to study. Not all subjects are taught in every type of school.
All information about the structure and content of the individual teaching subjects can be found on the study profile the respective subject.
