The tests for programmes with an entrance exam procedure take place from 6 July 2026 onwards. The application period is from 2 March to 4 May 2026. The information on this page is updated regularly - please check back again!

Step 2
2 March to 4 May 2026
The application period is open. Apply for your degree programme by submitting your application for admission. This is still possible, if you do not have a secondary-school leaving certificate yet.
You will find detailed info about this on our website from the end of October 2025 onwards.
Step 3
From 6 July 2026 onwards
The written tests take place on site in Vienna. We will inform you until the end of this year about the exact test dates. There are no alternative dates. Therefore, make sure to keep the test day free!
Note: The entrance exam and aptitude test procedures of the University of Vienna only take place once per academic year!
Step 4
Approximately 2 weeks after the test
We will send your test result via e-mail. If you were successful, you will receive info about your further steps for your admission and starting your studies.
The winter semester always starts on 1 October.
What does entrance exam and aptitude test procedure mean?
The University of Vienna conducts an entrance exam or aptitude test procedure for certain bachelor's and diploma programmes. This means: a written test will take place in July 2026.
